Warm white 2W High Power LED candelabra bulb E12
The Warm white 2W High Power LED candelabra bulb E12 Is a great replacement for your bedside reading light.
The Review:
This is the bulb that everbulb upgraded me to (and thanks again to them!). This is a very good bulb, directly replacing a CFL that was drawing about nine watts with no difference in brightness (my wife would have replaced it with any incandescent she could find if she found it wasn't to her liking). At $14.99, the price is a little high compared to the CFL it replaced.
Size of the Warm white 2W High Power LED candelabra bulb E12 is similar to the bulb it replaced, these fit just about anywhere - mine came with a standard base but you can get the candelabra base as well (as shown in the picture).
Cost Savings:
The bulb will cost $1.16 per year to run 8 hours per day (at $0.20 per KWH).
The 9W CFL it replaced would cost me 5.26 per year to operate, plus replacing it every two years or so, a savings of $4.10 per year. It would "pay for itself" in a little less than four years.
A 25W incandescent bulb would cost me $279 over 20 years, or $14.60 per year, paying for itself in just over one year.

LED bulb reliability – HIGH FAILURE RATES
The life span of LED bulbs is vastly overstated by the manufacturers and vendors. Some of the bulbs I have purchased only lasted two weeks at no more than a couple hours use per day. Very disappointing (maybe 30 hours lifespan).
I am a big fan of LED lighting. Choose a bulb that fits the application (lumens and color) and you will be happy. Unfortunately many manufacturers and vendors overstate (I’m being kind here) their products specifications.
I have purchased 45 LED bulbs and have had mixed reliability.
The good news – some are very reliable. I have five LED bulbs outside that have run dusk to dawn for two years with no problems.
The bad news – some bulbs are VERY unreliable. VERY high failure rates.
I purchased 12 of one type LED bulb and 12 out of 12 have failed (8.5W product 47856 from LEDLight.com). 100% failure rate. To make matters worse they are refusing to replace them now.
Beware of LEDLight.com. This company is selling products that they know are defective. No support for failed LED bulbs. These bulbs are very expensive ($20 – $105) and in some cases last only two or three weeks. They refuse to replace defective bulbs. LEDLight.com is selling known defective products and has bad customer service.

Sounds like you’ve had quite a run with LED’s! As of 2/9/10, they have a little caveat on these bulbs which states that the bulbs are “non-cancellable, non-returnable, non-warranty”. Not a product that I’d want to spend my hard earned money on. Thanks for the information. On closer inspection, they do have bulbs that have at least a one year warranty. Some companies have up to a three year warranty, and have honored them (I have a set of T8 replacements from solcool that I use in my greenhouse that were replaced after 2.5 years – unfortunately for the LED crowd they’ve returned there focus to solar cooling). As always, especially with an expensive outlay, be sure you shop carefully. So far, the reading light has been doing well, and it’s usually on for at least 8 hours a night since the original post.
